The Sacrament of Matrimony
The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament. (CCC, 1601).
You must follow Archdiocesan and parish guidelines for Catholic weddings. Please do not schedule a wedding date until you have spoken to the pastor and received his approval. Marriage preparation classes are required, as are sacramental records from the parish where you were baptized. Those intending to marry should contact the parish at least six months in advance. One (or both) party should be registered with our parish for one year prior to asking for Matrimony.
For more information please contact the Parish Office at (503) 792-4231.
