Dear Parents, September 24, 2017
Thank you for entrusting the religious formation of your children to us.
The Confirmation program is a 2 year process according to the guidelines put out by the Archdiocese of Portland. There are a few things that we will require of your child/children.
Attendance at every class – Sundays from 11:15-12:30 – see calendar
If they are unable to come to class on a Sunday please let me know ahead of time. I will arrange for them to make up the material that was covered.
2 Service Projects – May 6 Plant Sale is mandatory for every student to work at.
1 other volunteer activity. They will have 3 activities to choose from with the first happening next Sunday, October 1st. We teach that faith and works makes a complete and active Catholic.
Regular Mass attendance – every Saturday night or Sunday and Holy Days of Obligation. It is a requirement of our faith to attend Mass regularly because Lord knows we need Jesus and the Eucharist to help us get through life.
Year 2 Confirmation Retreat-FBYC in Mt. Angel on Feb. 16-18, 2018.
Memorization of certain prayers and basic knowledge of the Catholic Christian Faith. We want to help you give your child the best foundation so that they can lead a fruitful life and know what they believe and why.
Choose and active Catholic to be their Confirmation Sponsor.
Choose a Confirmation Saint.
I need some help-
3-4 Drivers for the Fall Kick off October 15 at St. Edward in Keizer 6:30-9pm. We leave Sacred Heart church at 5:45 and return around 9:15pm.
2 or 3 drivers for the Christmas Caroling on Dec. 10 from 1-4. We go to 2 places in Mt. Angel and I have a driver form I need you to fill out.
Anyone willing to bring treats for the kids on the days we have class. We have 58 kids. Chips, cookies, fruit, veggies, tamales, anything would be great!
God bless you,
Katie Phelan

2nd year Confirmation Parents- You will need to transport your child to and from the retreat at the Father Bernard Youth Center in Mt. Angel on Feb. 16-18. They must arrive by 7pm on Friday. I need a few people to provide snacks for Friday evening only. Please let me know if you can help with that. We have approx. 20 people attending. The rest of the food is provided the weekend. The retreat concludes on Sunday morning with Mass at 11. You are welcome to join us for Mass at 11 and then take your child home afterwards. Please let me know if you will not be able to transport your child.
High School Faith Formation
"The most effective catechetical programs for adolescents are integrated into a comprehensive program of pastoral ministry for youth that includes catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care, and prayer and worship. Such programs aim to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today; to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community; and to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person" (National Directory for Catechesis, p. 201).
