The Sacrament of Confirmation
For complete information regarding High School Faith Formation, which includes the Confirmation program, please look under Jr. High/High School Faith Formation.
Beginning in September 2022, we will be making a transition in our High School Confirmation Program. In alignment with the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon the new norm for Confirmation preparation will begin when students are in the 6th grade and continue into the 7th grade where the student will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the spring of the student’s 7th grade year.
Starting this September, we will be enrolling 6th through 9th grade for Confirmation Year 1. The Year 1 students from last year will advance to Confirmation Year 2. In September 2023 we will only be registering students in 6th to 8th grade for Confirmation Year 1, in 2024, 6th and 7th grade in Year 1 and by 2025, we should only be enrolling 6th graders in Confirmation Year 1.
Additionally, there will also be a change in the format of the formation that will take place for the students during this two-year process. We will have a more encompassing format that will include involvement of the student and the student’s family in the life of the church here at Sacred Heart – St. Louis Parish.

"Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation, whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace." (CCC, 1285).
