It’s not really goodbye…
In 1994 I answered “the call” for volunteers to teach CCD at Sacred Heart (it was actually a threat—no 1
st grade class if there was no teacher—and my son was in 1
st grade). Little did I know that would turn into many joyful years in ministry at this tiny, rural parish where my husband grew up. I have enjoyed working with the people who keep this parish running—the staff, the dedicated parishioners, the school and the many families who put their trust in us. When I started someone from the Archdiocese told me “this is a ministry, the day it turns into just a job is the day you need to quit”. Unfortunately that day has come. As Jesus did, I need time away to be quiet and listen to what God has planned for me next. I will still be a parishioner, still be barbequing chicken with my husband for the dinners, still be involved in CDA and cleaning church. So it’s not really goodbye.
Some things I take away from these past 18 years or so--look for the gifts in others and invite them to share them. Value the different charisms people bring to our parish and thank God for them. We all know our parish has been blessed by our Adoration Chapel—if that’s your calling thank you for praying for us! I know of many behind the scenes people who clean and straighten and many don’t know who they are—thank you for our beautiful facilities!! And many people are able to write that check to keep us going—thank you for supporting us!!! Lastly, over the years I have seen some pretty amazing children & teens go through our program. We are raising and forming really nicchildren who will be great leaders in our church and world—praise God!!!!
Blessing to all of you for allowing me to minister with you.
