Becoming Catholic as an Adult
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the learning process where adults prepare to enter the Catholic Church. RCIA sessions are held weekly beginning in late September each year, and over the course of several months those who attend the RCIA classes are educated on what the Catholic Church believes and are given the opportunity to ask question about those beliefs.
Just because you start RCIA, doesn't mean you are committed to entering the Church. If you are merely curious about what Catholicism is, please feel free to come. All are welcome.
Also, if you were baptized as a Catholic or in another Christian denomination, and you wish to become fully initiated in the Catholic Church, RCIA will provide the sacramental preparation to receive First Reconciliation (Confession), First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
If you have been away from the Church for a while, and would like to refresh your understanding of the teachings of Jesus, you are welcome to come to these sessions.
We use the Catechism of the Catholic Church, along with video and written media from the FORMED series, as well as the Credo series from the Ignatius Press.
